About

Born in Hamburg in 1990, Malwin Faber lives and works in Hamburg, with intermediate stops in Tel Aviv and Berlin.

Malwin Faber draws immense energy from gestural abstraction in his paintings, making movement and dynamism visible. He counters this with precision stemming from sharply cut geometric forms and raster elements. "The structure of his paintings resembles improvisation in jazz, blending freedom and discipline into an interplay with alternating rhythms" (Read more: Zwischenräume). Faber impresses in his works with a sophisticated technique, encompassing highlights, coverings, and the experimental use of textures through monotype printing techniques. He consistently employs and evolves this technique across several series of works. "In his painting, this results in an oscillation between static and dynamic, order and chaos, as well as foreground and background intertwining" (Read more: Resonanzfrequenzen). His intricate layering of abstract elements creates an impression of spatial depth. Inspired by this illusionary spatial depth, the artist also integrates real space into his work; objects and installations thus extend painting into physical space.
